Surround yourself with people who make you a better you. There is a ton published about this, but common sense prevails here.
I saw this yesterday:
You are the average of the five people you keep closest to you.
Said differently, the five people you keep closest to you have the greatest impact on the person you are.
Interesting thought, and I want to hear what you think, so leave me a note.
I spent some time last night with some of those gentlemen that I keep close. And the conversation has me thinking a ton this morning.
The topic ventured into the idea often sold that says something like “be positive and positive things will happen to you.”
On the surface, that is way too simplified and somewhat misleading. When taken just as it is only on that surface, it is just ignorant.
But it is a place to start.
Be positive. Be a positive person. Find the positive where it can be found.
Those are the people I like to be around. And it’s ok to admit it: those are the people you like to be around.
So be positive.
But it’s not easy, and it take awareness. It takes practice. It takes effort. AND it is not the only step.
Be positive AND build relationships. Be positive AND take the initiative. Be positive AND do work that you love.
It STARTS with being positive, and that’s a critical piece, but it takes many, many more pieces to be the best you.
So don’t stop there.
